Now in its seventh year, PONY’S Baseball PINTO 8U International Baseball Classic is the premiere event for all levels of 8U teams in the country. Past international teams that participated include Curacao, Aruba, Philippines, Dominican Republic, China, and Indonesia, with our 2022 8U Tournament Champion being Curacao. Some of the teams represented from the United States have come from California, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, Kentucky, Indiana, and Illinois. These teams’ participation have created a competitive blend for the United States teams and the International teams. The age cut off date is April 30, and we have a travel division as well as a league all-star division again this year. We will accept the first 16 teams to register and them put teams on a waiting list to establish additional pools of four for the tournament. The size of the tournament may change depending upon the number of teams that request to play. Each player will receive an award and there will be banner provided for all teams participating.
This year we added a couple of new events to the tournament. On Thursday night there will be a team picnic at 5:00 p.m. and at 7:00 p.m. there will be a Home Run Hitting Contest and a Fastest Runner Contest. Each team will get to enter two players in each of these events. There will be individual awards as well as team awards for these events. Make sure your team arrives early Thursday afternoon so your players and fans may enjoy a night at the ballpark. There may be other activities added to the tournament. All the PINTO International Baseball Classic tournaments have been fun filled weekends. If you would like to come early and play some additional games, please let us know. Dates: July 7-9, 2023 (Report Date: July 6) Location: Rent One Park (1000 Miner Dr Marion, IL 62959)Game Schedule: Each team will be guaranteed a minimum of five games. Once pool play is concluded, teams will be seeded and placed in a single elimination round that will result in eight teams being placed in the Championship Bracket and eight teams being placed in the Consolation Bracket. A Champion and Consolation Champion will be determined following the results of those single elimination rounds.
